Gail Johnson
Gail Johnson has been teaching group-fitness classes at several Vancouver gyms since 2001. She was encouraged to pursue personal training because of the feedback she heard from so many participants: full of enthusiasm, energy, positivity, and obvious passion for fitness, Gail was said to motivate people in a way that made her workouts stand out. Besides the extraordinary benefits exercise has on people’s physical health, regular activity also has tremendous effects on mental well-being, a fact that, in Gail’s view, is all too often overlooked. Exercise boosts mood, fends off anxiety and depression, combats stress, and clears and calms the mind. As a result, it helps make people more productive, efficient, and sharp at work; better at decision-making; and more confident. It builds inner and outer strength.
Gail is also a mother of two boys and an award-winning journalist who specializes in health and fitness writing. She writes a regular health column for the Georgia Straight newspaper (www.straight.com), plus she's the managing editor of blush magazine (www.blushmom.com), a new national publication for moms and moms-to-be. She also contributes regularly to the Globe and Mail, alive, and other publications.
Gail is certifed by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer and the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association as a group-fitness instructor. Gail also holds a Fit for Two pre/postnatal fitness specialist certification.
