Plank Challenge
With much excitment, the Plank Off took place on May 26 at 11:45am in the YWCA lobby. Friends, families and the Health + Fitness team cheered on as the finalists pushed hard to maintain their plank position.
Big congratulations to the 7 finalists that competed in the Plank Off:
Mark Mensing - Male Plank Champion 2008 with 9 minutes and 16 seconds

Challenge YOURSELF! with the PLANK CHALLENGE
In support of May's theme 'Just Core', we challenge our members to get stronger by participating in plank exercises from May 5 - 26. The plank champion in each category, male and female, will receive a prestigious trophy, $150 fine dining certificate at Raincity Grill, and of course BRAGGING rights and a STRONGER core!
HOW
- Time yourself or have a friend/instructor/coach time you in the Health + Fitness Centre
- One plank record per day (e.g. 30 seconds, 60 seconds). Record your longest plank time on the white grid in the lobby
- Plank stations will be set on the 3rd floor and on the pool deck with timers, pencils, and post-it notes
- From May 5 - 25. Record your longest time daily.
- Top 4 cumulative time (in seconds) from each category, Male and Female, will compete in the final challenge – the PLANK OFF on May 26 at 11:45 am in the Lobby.
- $150 fine dining certificate at the Raincity Grill and a prestigious trophy to the top male and female plank champion
- 4-5 random draw prizes each week for participants at Chapters and Blenz
- Bragging rights! And a STRONGER core!
