Swim to Beijing 2008
Form July 2 - July 31, 101 swimmers participated in the Challenge (a 50,00 meter race in 30 days). Six swimmers made it to Beijing and an astounding 29 swimmers achieved their goal before the race started. The first two men to “Swim to Beijing” were Randall Kippen and Jeff Besant. Randall Kippen completed 50,600 meters by July 13th and Jeff Besant completed 51,400 meters by July 15th. The first two women to “Swim to Beijing” were Lora Nixon and Allison Bachlet. Lora Nixon completed 50,500 meters by July 18th and Allison completed 52,410 meters by July 24th. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the July Summer Splash swim event!

In the spirit of the Olympics, swim to Beijing! From July 2 - July 31, all lap swimmers have the opportunity to record the distance of their workouts to get from Vancouver to Beijing.
Set a goal of ¼ (12,500 m), ½ (25,000 m), ¾ (37,000 m) or all the way to Beijing (50,000 m)! Watch your fish move along the map and change color once you achieved your goal. Join in the fun and become one of the first people to swim to Beijing.
All participants will receive a Health + Fitness towel to aid in their journey. But the first 2 males and 2 females to reach Beijing will receive lavish gift baskets (valued at $350 each) filled with aquatic goodies and gift certificates from LifeSpa, Hart House Restaurant, Copper Chimney Restaurant, and Hotel Le Soliel.
