Warren Scott Smith


WSS Fitness was created in 1998 in Victoria, BC Canada (then known as “Kaizen Fitness”). Owner and head trainer Warren Scott Smith had decided he had to become the change he sought when he was himself 297 Lbs. Tired of the quick-fix mentality Warren knew the only true transformation was an emotional one. Physical transformations meant little without addressing the behavoiurs, habits and inner conflicts that brought on the unhealthy lifestyle in the first place.

After completing his own journey, Warren took a group of 8 friends and helped them complete their own transformation. This was free of charge, to test his own ability to help others and provide the results he promised. Many of those people can be found in the ‘success stories’ (link) page of this site. Warren wrote the Kaizen Café (link) book during this time and has since created almost 200 recipes (link) for his clientele to use.

Warren trained almost 100 people in Victoria before deciding he wanted to return to school and pursue a degree in nutrition. After completing two years at Camosun College in Victoria, he moved to Vancouver in 2001 to attend the University of British Columbia in the Dietetics program. He became frustrated in the dogmatic approach of the program and unwillingness to address the emotional side of eating. He switched to the Nutritional Sciences degree and further, went on to focus on a double major with a B.Sc. in Psychology.

Remembering the frustration in finding quality and honest information on healthy lifestyle and nutrition when he was overweight, he set upon correcting the problem. Between classes Warren researched and wrote his first fitness book. “Since I never found the book I was looking for when I was the most desperate for it, I decided to write it myself”. The book has been completed, a DVD will be filmed to accompany it. Both will be released in 2007. The first chapter can be found here (link), along with a free monthly newsletter.

Warren Scott Smith now trains his clients in Vancouver, BC, writes for fitness magazines and is currently launching his own online business for 2007.

*Cancellations

All cancelled sessions require a 24-hour notice. Any cancellations reported less than 24
hours ahead of the scheduled session will be subject to full payment for that session.
Certain exceptions will be made based on extenuating circumstance, at the discretion of
WSS Fitness.
